I stumbled upon Yoga 50 years ago, while living in the U.S.A., amidst the demands of family, work, and studies in Psychology. Suffering from various ailments like headaches, anxiety, constipation, insomnia and recurring infections, within a year of practicing Yoga, they vanished.
Enamored by its transformative power, Yoga became my daily routine and part of my lifestyle. Under various renowned teachers, I mastered diverse Yoga methods and started teaching it when one of my mentors, Bob Najemy, asked me to take over his classes in Greece, feeling confident that I could handle them. In spite of the fact that I had no formal teacher training - as they were non existent back in the ‘70s - I took on the challenge. I soon discovered that I loved not only Yoga, but also teaching it. Gradually, in 1984 I established by own yoga school, Lotos and my own yoga teacher training in 1986, in order to create yoga teachers to help me out in my own school, to take care of the ever increasing student clientele.
A significant injury during a yoga workshop practicing a very dynamic and extreme style of yoga at the hands of a poorly trained teacher, lead me to find out about Sotai, a Japanese physiotherapy method (nothing else helped). Later I integrated it with my own Hatha Yoga practice and found how helpful it was in overcoming tension, pain, blockages and old injuries. I started sharing this knowledge with my students - always with excellent results - and that was the birth of Sotai Yoga™.
My passion for sharing Yoga's benefits stems from its potential to enhance physical and mental well-being, and to reduced healthcare costs. Yoga continues to imbue my life with purpose, meaning and creativity even now, after 55 years from my first encounter with it. My mission persists: to inspire others to embrace Yoga's gifts and live a stress and pain-free life, not only in a yoga school setting, but even at home, using anything around as a prop.
